Ensemble Opportunities

 

Concert band consists of all 7th and 8th grade instrumental musicians. Students will build on the fundamentals learned in elementary band and focus heavily on grades 1-2.5 concert literature. Students begin to learn extended technique on their instruments, and work often with tuning and musicality. 

 

 

Concert choir consists of all 7th and 8th grade vocal musicians. Students continue to learn to use the voice, strengthening vocal fundamentals and learning the basics of manipulating different parts of the voice. There is a heavier focus on music theory and tuning as students learn to accurately reflect different styles of performance.

 

 

Singing Sobos is an auditioned after school choir that will meet once a week at the high school in the second semester. Students will be given challenging music, have lots of solo opportunities, and rehearse/perform with select high school students in this combined 7-12 ensemble. 

 

 

Open to all students 6-12 and South Beloit alumni, jazz meets one night a week for an hour and performs on concerts and various community events throughout the year. Students need to prioritize practicing their music on their own due to the quick turnaround time between rehearsals and events.
